📍 On the day of my daughter’s choir performance
We had some time to kill and ended up wandering into Olympic Parktel—one of those older hotels near Olympic Park in Seoul.
샌드위치가 가성비 있어서 기록해 봄.
16000원인가 그랬음
음식을 시키면 음료가 50% 할인.
🥪 To my surprise, the sandwich there was… actually worth documenting.
I think it was around 16,000 won, which isn't exactly cheap-cheap, but for Seoul standards? Not bad. Especially considering this deal: Order a meal, and drinks are 50% off. Yes, please.
미국 스타일로 기름지고 탄 것이 아닌,
한국 스타일로 담백했음.
취향에는 적당히 맞았음.
오이 피클이 좀 별로. 아니 많이 별로.
수제 피클이 아니고 시판 제품인 듯.
🧂 Taste-wise? Think “K-style,” not “USA-style.”
Not greasy. Not burned. Just clean, soft flavors—very Korean.
It was right up my alley.
(Except for the pickles. Let’s not talk about the pickles. Okay fine, let’s. They were... very store-bought. Definitely not homemade. Major letdown.)

🎤 Meanwhile, my daughter waited backstage for her choir’s turn to perform.
I took a photo but blurred her face because, well, it was funny.
한국에는 각종 지자체 별로 청소년 합창단이 많은데,
울 딸은 우리 지역 구 소속.
진입 장벽은 높지 않다.
노래 너무 잘하지 않아도 된다. ㅎㅎ

My daughter’s part of our local gu choir.
No, you don’t need to be a singing prodigy to join. The bar to entry isn’t high. 😄
단체 생활을 배우라고,
노래하는 즐거움을 느끼라고 시키고 있음.
We signed her up so she could learn about teamwork and feel the joy of singing together.
학교에 합창단이 없어서 지역사회 구에서 시키고 있음.
가끔 유명 청소년 합창단과 연합 공연을 하기도.
Since her school doesn’t have a choir, this community-based program is a great alternative.
They even do joint concerts with well-known youth choirs from time to time.
딸램 덕분에 파크텔 오랫만에 가봄.
🏨 Thanks to my daughter, I got to visit Parktel again after ages.
Who knew a kids' choir performance would lead me to a sandwich that was surprisingly okay?
